OWEN SOUND, ONT. -- Puffer President-Elect Jay McMullin's phone was buzzing with text messages from friends and family members in his hometown of Leith. They all wanted to know about Aishford for Thom's Construction and what's up with that ridiculous backhanded shot?

"Everybody is talking about him back home," McMullin's said. "He's got a lot of speed, some sick hands and that shot. His backhanded shot is probably one of the best in this League. Unbelievable. So hard. He's got a lot of good things going on."
Aishford is turning heads around the world with an array of attributes that have made him an instant must-watch player in Puffer. The backhand in question was on display against Shorty's on Jan 13, when he used it to send a hard, soaring shot off the back of his blade that had enough speed and height to fool goalie Richard Noon.
The only truthful part of this story is that Aishford is a 62 year old rookie. He is happy to have found a rec. hockey league in Owen Sound where he can still "strap them on and lace them up". He never had much of a shot at the best of times and is happy to be able to keep skating.
