Good afternoon Puffers;
As you were told last week, the executive of the Owen Sound Puffer Hockey League is asking for your help in remembering the spirit that Dave Manners brought to puffer hockey each week.
We would like to take up a collection and present it to the Rec Centre Committee in memory of Grizz. These monies collected will be combined with monies collected by other groups that Dave played hockey with in the hopes that they will total at least $5000.00 at which point a plaque will be placed on the donors wall in memory of Dave "Grizz" Manners.
We all have fond memories of Grizz and it would only be fitting to see his name on the wall of the place he spent so much time.
This Wed. night, Nov. 16/11 will be collection night. Let's all do what we can to get Grizz's name on that wall.
Thank-you from the executive.

Hobart's Team Arm Bands
In Honour of Dave "Griz" Manners, the Hobarts Team are wearing arm bands for the rest of the season. Since black arm bands wouldn't work well with the black jersey's... the arm bands are in memory of Griz's multi-colour suspenders.

Dave Manners
Dave Manners Puffer Profile circa 2005
Nicknamed "Griz" or "Mr. Marg Manners"...The looks of a matinee idol mean Dave is forever being pursued by young female admirerers; sorry ladies, but he is already spoken for...His mother's maiden name was Kringle...Increasingly plays the game with a style he describes as "aggressively sedentary"...A decorated veteran of the Boer War...One of the best friends a beverage fund could ever have...Has worn the same hockey pants since the late sixties...Often seen zipping about the local waterways on his SeaDoo.

Morris Named First Star
If Frank Morris keeps this up, he won’t be able to stay out of the spotlight.
The Thoms Construction winger was named the first star for the opening month of the Puffer season after scoring five goals and eight points in two games. Notoriously shy, he answered only a handful of questions after receiving the honour Monday morning and largely deflected the praise to his teammates.
“Statistically it’s pretty clear the way he’s played,” said acting coach and league president Rob Lourie “There were some great performances obviously throughout the league, but Frank's done it in every game so I think it’s deserved.”

Morris would much rather let his play do the talking.
“I’m just going out there and playing the game and doing whatever it takes to get wins,” he said.
He had a natural hat trick and 3 assists during a 6-3 loss against Hobarts on Oct. 12 and added two more goals in a 3-2 loss against Northpoint the previous week.

2011 Bill Stobbe Puffer Hockey Team Golf Day!
Pictures from the Bill Stobbe Puffer Hockey Team Golf Day this post-season. It started out with a fine chilly mist in the air cascading down through a still fog... And things went downhill from there... At this point I can't divulge any more details.
